The game keeps crashing on my iPad device I start a level constantly hoping it will work but it just crashes when I get into the first 5-10 or rarely 20 seconds into the stage please fix this I cant play play this wonderful sonic game on the go please fix the crash and keep up the hard work sega. Last are the sound effects it feels weird hearing the se-ga with a low tone and the rings as well. Everything else is fine just that CRash and the sound effects other than that the game is fine. Even if you just fix that crash I would give this game 5 stars. Keep up the good work!

I wanna play episode metal but I cant because it needs an old feature that the old phones have and I have bought both games on my iPhone 6 Plus and maybe enhance the graphics a lot more on new phones

I grew up playing sonic back in the 90s and I loved it back then, the graphics looks great but the game isnt what I expected. The direction buttons are way to small making it difficult to move sonic in the direction I want, also the amount of stages in this game is a disappointment.

I appreciate the graphics update, but the level design and controls arent very good. Go play the actual classics or generations if you want a better 2d Sonic experience.

Glad the game has been brought back and updated for newer devices, only one thing...ok two. One game center isnt working/connecting with the game at all. Two the control for moving seems kinda off.

This port of Sonic 4: Episode 1 is ok but the circle pad and jump button are incredibly tiny

I do appreciate the graphical change, but lets just say this port needs fixing. Such as all of the sound effects and controls. Other than that, not one to miss.

The game looks good but its very short and trying to control Sonic with a touchscreen D-pad makes most of this game an exercise in frustration for me. I dont know how many times I found Sonic uselessly looking up when I need him to move left or right. There are many moments in the game where you need precise left and right control and its just not possible.

Game is great but force closes when trying the final level running on iPod touch 5g latest iOS version.

Crashes after load on my iPhone 4S with ios 9. I can play Ep 2 without incident, though. Sonic 4 is an epic modern return of a classic. I enjoy it almost as much as I enjoyed Generations on Steam. I do think the controls on Ep 1 could be tweaked a bit / Ep 2 is better there. And dont miss the awesome soundtrack!

As Benjy126 said, you cant beat the classics. But this isnt about beating the classics, this is about being a fun game. This isnt a fun game. The fun of needing the momentum to get up a ledge is gone. If you jump, it feels like you stop in midair. That isnt how physics work. He should always move at his previous speed until a force is acted upon him, like the player pushing a button, or him hitting a wall. The levels are practically pallet swaps of the originals. The game feels very awkward to play and look at. Why did they render sonic in 3D? He looks so out of place! If you kept him as a 2D Sprite, he might look like he belongs in this game! No, I am not a fan-boy who is hating this game because it is newer than the originals, I started playing sonic games only a few months ago. Im not blinded my nostalgia, but objectively this game has a lot of flaws. Thats it. Thanks for reading this.

As long as you have a good phone, (and if the sound effects in a lower pitch dont tick you off) this is actually a pretty addicting game!

This is an okay sonic game but the new update is so blah and I CANT LOCK ON I GOT THIS GAME A LONG TIME AGO AND SONIC 4 EPISODE 2 CANT LOCK ON BECAUSE I DONT HAVE THAT TYPE OF MULTITASKING BAR SEGA but this is a ok game and if you fix this SEGA it may get 5 stars but for sure 4 SO PLEASE FIX THIS AND UPATE THIS GAME AS WELL AS THE OTHER and debug mode could be fun :D

I bought this specifically to unlock and play Episode Metal in Ep. 2, but my device isnt powerful enough to run both games in the background at once.

Sometimes the game crashes on me but thats not the case in Sonic 4 episode 2

The update looks better than ever!

I have an iPad Mini and I got Sonic 4. I got to the E.G.G. Station Zone and it crashed. I tried it multiple times, Got all of the Chaos Emeralds, deleted other apps for storage, and it still crashes. I love EP 1 but I just cant beat it. Fix this and keep up the good work Sega. Also make Sonic Mania for the Wii U please.

Unless you have fingers as small as green beans (and I doubt you do), the buttons are WAY too small. They need to be much larger for this game to even have a shot at getting more stars. I highly suggest you (sega) fix this immediately.
