The blue blur is back at it again with a new adventure to stop the uggo with a remarkable mustache. As Sonic goes to make a visit to his developmental territory, we see some highlights of a great game. First off, allow me to say how outstanding the previous update was. The controls are now very similar those of Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2, which is what we all needed and now received. Also, THANK YOU for fixing the aspect ratio, which was about driving me to insanity. Full screen is the best experience, no matter what anyone says. I seem to really enjoy this game, though it is repetitive. Though this is just a merge of Sonic the Hedgehog 1 and 2, this didnt affect my review. This game is still pretty addicting. Some of the information on the one-star reviews may be accurate for some users, but I dont see a problem with other information on the reviews. Consider what is said in the reviews, but know some of what is said shall NOT be tended to. I have to add something after collecting the 7 chaos emeralds. Though very similar to the original Sonic the Hedgehog, I love having 101% control (extra 1% because of the tilting). Well done. I see this game gives the player even more rage after running into the "!" orbs. It is better than the "GOAL" orbs at least. Now when I get 50 rings on a level and turn into Super Sonic, I see more logic behind the transformation, showing all the emeralds before switching colors. When I control Super Sonic, it doesnt remind me of an invulnerable mortal. I see a god behind Super Sonic. I have a recommendation I dont care if it is considered or not with Super Sonic. I would much rather have Sonic in the air when the transformation button can be pressed. I dont know, just my preference that may not align with others. That recommendation doesnt change my 5 out of 5 rating of this component. My review would have been 3 stars with the last update. How can you guys increase this very review to 5 stars from the even 4 stars? I have some recommendations. I want sensitivity increased on controls to make the game even more similar to previous games. Preferably on the pad that makes Sonic move. The button that makes Sonic jump is fixed and all good now. And the SFX is ridiculous. The music doesnt require any work. I get sick just hearing the "SE-GA" when accessing this game. When you collect a ring, the sound it makes just makes me want to delete the game. Im sure it is an easy fix, but I want my ears saved from the abomination of sound effects that make up this game. Episode II doesnt have this problem, so you have a template! With the recommendations in mind, I will rate this game 91/100. You have me at a state of satisfactory, Sega. Im proud of what you have done here. This book cannot be judged by its cover. Sonic the Hedgehog 4: Episode I proves Sonic can still make it in the major league after 11 years of going down the slide. This game is Segas "Oh, we cant make a good Sonic game anymore? Well I wonder how this will do. Im sure this wont be a masterpiece! ....lame-os."

Love the game! Gorgeous graphics, The same familiar gameplay with new and interesting twists. I honestly dont know what people are griping about. Ok, it CAN crash unexpectedly on occasion. Honestly though all of the games Ive purchased do that from time to time so I dont know if that something specific to Sonic. Episode two is great too; keep them coming guys! You definitely have a nostalgic Fanbase and newcomers to get attracted to the franchise.

Im just going to get straight to the point. Graphics need more work. The special levels need to be changed. And there needs to be more missions. This game isnt even worth 2.99. Needs to be 0.99. And this game needs an update ASAP. Overall: 2 out of 5

This game needs to be upgraded for the iPhone 6!! It would be so amazing with higher resolution and a bigger. The quality of the game makes me not want to play it :(

I know this is a different topic, but some people payed $7 for Episode 2 and you havent bothered fixing it for iOS 7/8 and you even removed it. Come on SEGA, youre better than that, fix and bring back Episode 2!

Sonic 4 episode 1 is a game game, but now that episode 2 is no longer in this App Store, and to make it even worse, episode 3 is cancelled! I WASTED $1.99 on episode 2 and now I want my money back!!! Episode 3 would have been awesome because all Sonics games, Knuckles (almost) never been a playable character, so plz SEGA l, plz confirm Sonic 3 & Knuckles remastered on the iOS and make it a Limited time for sonic fans to get the S3&K free.

Just simply well done the only thing that seems a little "over-achiver" is the untouchable achievement, and the ep II ad crash. But its an amazing app being held down by people who expect more than can be given. I mean you guys are making money so obviously its good enough! But what I really love is the fact that it consumes way less battery than most apps allowing me to play longer! Well done SEGA, just wish ep II could fix for iOS too.

Love this game but I want to play Sonic 4 episode 2! It wont work on my iPhone 6!

Since I cant load the page for (the far superior) Episode II, and cant find it on the App Store even though I have the app on my device, Ill ask this here: the game (Sonic 4 Episode II) crashes as soon as it starts up. I see a black screen for a second then it crashes. Please fix it. I paid for that game, I will not accept being ripped off by not being able to play it.

This game is good but you removed sonic 4 part 2 completely making the app instantly crash. Bring it back or give us refunds.

Read this, all of you dumb critics. I think the game is great. The graphics are cool because they feel like Sonic Rush. The only thing I dont really like is the tiny control stick. Other than that I give the game a 9/10. So stop saying, The graphics are bad! Its too hard! If you dont like it, two words. DELETE IT. Or you can be stupid and waste your time hating on it. So, the lesson is, PLAY. THE.GAME.

Let the iPhone 5 have a good model for sonic 4 I mean the model on the iPhone looks terrible when he does his finger wag when he beats a level he doesnt even got a finger its that bad looking fix it!!!!

Good game but why can Sonic 1, Sonic 2, Sonic CD and Sonic 4 Episode II be updated for the latest iPhone screen sizes and retina display support but this cannot???
